10 Songs That Inspire Me For Lolita (30 Days of Lolita Challenge Day 8)

March 09, 2019

  1. Stripped by Depeche Mode. This song is gloomy and seductive and groovy and it makes me feel so ready for a day of being dark and frilly.
  2. Kingdom by the Devin Townsend Project. It's whimsical and heavy and operatic and brilliantly executed and I love everything about it.
  3. Still Doll by Kanon Wakeshima. I never watched Vampire Knight, but I found Kanon Wakeshima on YouTube and fell in love with this song. And, of course, when I listen to it I definitely feel like the delicate lolita portrayed in the music video.
  4. Paint It Black (Cover) by Ciara. This song makes me feel ominous and powerful! It's an amazing take on an already great song. I could listen to this all day.
  5. Haunted by Evanescence. Not sorry. "One time, I saw Amy Lee wearing Bodyline's L369 and a T-shirt, so I bought Bodyline's L369 and a T-shirt."
  6. You Should See Me In A Crown by Billie Eilish. I really like this song. It's delicate but powerful, and I love that combination. Bonus points for wearing an actual crown while listening.
  7. Haunting by Halsey. Halsey is the one pop star I actively listen to on a regular basis. Somehow it makes me feel very in tune with lolita? Maybe because her voice is so unique and beautiful, or because she has so many alternative or spooky themes to her songs.
  8. The Beauty of Decay by De/Vision. This is a song I love to lounge in lolita to. It makes me feel calm, but...spooky. It's like a cryptic lullaby.
  9. The Heart From Your Hate by Trivium. This song makes me feel very unapologetic about doing me! It somehow just boosts my confidence and I forget to care about what strangers might think of me.
  10. Spellbound by Siouxie and the Banshees. I have to have that song that makes me feel like a real-life magical witch who could turn you into a toad for catcalling her.
